Well she has arrived and I love my new buffet , isn't she pretty! I have always wanted one and back in June I went into the store and there she was but a little too pricey for me so we said our goodbyes and I moved on, then last week I went back and to my surprise she was still there waiting for me and her price had been marked to half off! Yeah! So I figured it was meant to be (: I know she is not perfect but I don't care, my only decision is to paint or not to paint?? I am enjoying her at the moment with the natural wood, what do you think?

OH my, she is lovely, I would leave her as is. Somethings just should not be painted and I think she has a history in her wood that should just be left alone
I love your pumpkins!
Enjoy your day,
Elizabeth
Oh she is sooo lovely and she has really sexy legs! Enjoy her!
Krista
Oh...I am in love with her! What a nice set of gams. :D
If it were me I would paint her. I have a few unpainted pieces, but they were all 'from' someone, if I buy them at a store they are fair game.
She is beautiful! This one is tough. I don't know whether to say "go for it and paint" or "leave as is" LOL I'm big help, huh? I can't wait find out what you decide.
Blessings,
Sandra
I love the buffet.I am looking for one too.all to exspensive though.Your pumpkin topirary is just adorable.Fall is really starting to show here in Wv.Hugs,Jennifer
She is beautiful Kelly!! I love the shape and detail. I kind of like her the color she is too, it is a nice contrast!
Hugs,
Amy
Gorgeous! Love the detailing. Why don't you just sit with it for a while. Either it will please you as it is or start to bug you. Or is that just me?
Hi Kelly,
Ooohhh she is beautiful !! The dark of her wood is pretty !! But, I'm still such a cottage creamy white girl, and I put those rose embellishments on all my furniture .. Enjoy her this way for awhile, and if you decide to go light again .. you can have a ball painting .. It is just perfect there tho !! I LoVe buffets, and have two of them now !! They are sooo useful too !! Have a happy, fun day ...

What a beautiful piece! OK...based on your existing decor, I would say paint it.....But, what if you left the top wood stained? I saw this over at the Old Painted Cottage: http://theoldpaintedcottage.blogspot.com/2009/09/breaking-rules.html
It looks like a similar piece & she has the same light colors in her home.
Good Luck~ and great job on getting it on sale!!

i enlarged the picture to see the wood better. I love her age spots and being oak with a beautiful grain....I would say leave her as she is. Beautiful, natural wood!
Oh Kelly I love her! So glad you got her for the price you did. Good things come to those who wait ;) I'm going to go along with Ticking and Toile's recomendation. When I first spotted 'Her' in your gorgeous dining room Jennifer's cottage came to my mind too. Love that look, but of course I love everything you do.
Hugs,
Sue
Oh she sure is pretty Kelly! Wow, the wait was worth it! You know I love antiques to. I am seeing her white! Her details would just pop out! I just painted one for my craftroom white and have another in the garage waiting to be painted. She will go in the Living Room. Oh isn't this all so much fun?!
Hugs,
Maryjane
Your decor is lovely and to marry her you need to paint her....The detail will be even more lovely...
I hate to say this but i think quickly paint the wood....it will soon be over and you will have a more fitting look.
Love the shape. pumkins look so pretty too..Debbie
very lovely.....I have been eyeing one at the Salvation Army for months.
It is a bit pricey...even when it goes half off. I think it has been there so long because..it is a bit too chippy for most people.
I have not been in over a month..so chances are it is gone now~I was just waiting for it to go 75%.
I say leave it as is for now.....chances are you will paint it down the road but it looks great....imperfections at all :)
Oh she is so pretty!!! I love her legs! I did the same thing with my dining room table/chairs. I went back in and saw it was half off and I knew it was meant to be!
I would keep her as is for Fall and Winter and by Spring you will know what you want to do. She would look so beautiful painted though...but I'm biased since I prefer painted furniture.
This is a beautiful piece. I probably would leave it as it is..altho I much prefer painted furniture, a few pieces of natural wood look very nice.
Ohhhhhh! She's beautiful! And half off? Definitely meant to be. I say live with her for a month before deciding on the paint. You can get a feel for the piece and what you will put on it. I have a drop leaf table in my dining room that I'm still deciding on. If you are unsure, take your time. Beautiful!
~Michelle
I just put 2 in the shop and I painted each one. But I think I would have to agree with Cindy. Keep it for fall and enjoy the warm wood tones and possibly in the spring paint it. We all know what paint can do for the details.
Happy for you my friend and I loved your topiary too.
Ya know, whatever you do will be incredible. Why just look how cute you already have her decorated.
Hugs
Becky
So glad I found your blog today! I love it!
Very Beautiful Kelly! What a great find! Lots of great storage & decorating potential! What a hard decision! I would wait awhile & enjoy that beautiful wood.. Love your pumpkin topiary too!

Hi Kelly, I have two buffets already, but I'm tempted to sell them both and get one like this...its my favorite style. I painted one of mine, but left the other one, and I like the mix of dark and white, so I would suggest leaving it for a few months, and see if you like it the way it is, which is really beautiful. You might put a long table scarf on the top, which will give you some white while you're deciding. Either way, you got a wonderful deal, and your pretty buffet has a wonderful home!
God bless,
Mary
She IS beautiful! Fate is a beautiful thing.:)
oh she's beautiful! I don't know what to tellyou about the painting thing...maybe leave it as is for a long while, then you'll know what to do.
I got one last year, not in great shape and painted it...I love it painted, but yours looks very nice as is too!
hi kelly!
it's awesome!
now the "pre-cottage 8-kelly" would paint the piece for sure in either distressed white or palest blue, but i'm not so sure about what this new kelly might do ...
keep us posted, cutie!
xo
Beautiful as is! I usually only paint if something has a "multitude of sins" that need covering up. Yours looks great just like you find it!
It's beautiful, don't paint her...I think the darker wood is awesome in there. It was definitely meant to be. That's what happened with my new sofa. I first saw it two months ago and when I went back she greeted me at the front door. I really like it just like it is.
Hugs,
LeAnn:)
So pretty! What a decision you have to make... I love the color of wood, but I like white too! What a gem! Good luck!
Michelle
Oh, she is a pretty thing! I have one very similar! Just live with her a while and she'll tell you what she wants! :)
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
I love the buffet! Leave it as is but paint the mirror above it...Love your blog. Thank you for sharing. You have inspired me to start my own. It is very slow going. Have you ever shared how you started yours? I would love to hear what inspired you. Lisa from Cloverbrook Cottage.
Your buffet is beautiful - well worth the wait!! I had the same dilemma, but after months of indecision I finally got up the nerve to paint my buffet a creamy white, and I absolutely LOVE it - I just wish I had done it sooner instead of agonizing over it for so long.
Oh she is so pretty! I am looking for a buffet to- I think one would look so lovely in front of my bay window. My they are so pricey here though!
Hi Kelly.....Hmmmm...sounds like most are in agreement about leaving the buffet as is for now and see how you feel about painting later. She is a beauty, though!Glad you got it for such a bargain....it was meant to be!~Hugs, Patti
Oooooooooooh!! Your buffet is beautiful! I think it's pretty whether you paint it or not.
Its lovely, hard to say with regard to paint, I kind of like the contrast of the natural wood with the painted furniture! Rachaelxo
Well you found her in her glory and I think you should leave her that way and enjoy her for a long time before you decide to change her look. She sure shines in your home:)
Joyce
Kelly your buffet is so pretty. I am having the same thoughts about painting my buffet that my daddy gave me years ago. I'm so tempted to paint it but I think for now I will leave it like it is. All of the other furniture in that room is dark cherry too. Maybe one day I will decide to paint it all! I think yours looks pretty just as she is however with your painted dining table and chairs, she would be beautiful painted that way too. Decisions, decisions!
Hugs,
Lee Laurie
I'm inclined to enjoy the differences....it's so lovely just the way it is!
Blessings,
Spencer
Hi Kelly,
I love your new buffet! I would say paint it....but I do love it just the way it is....but painted white would make it stand out.....but it is so beautiful in its natural wood glamour...but, but, but. I know, I know I am no help at all! :-D I know that whatever you decided it will be absolutely beautiful. By the way, I love your pumpkin topiary. It's so funny I just bought some stuff to make one and was going to post about it soon. (mines will be in a smaller scale though) Great minds do think alike huh? :-) Wishing you a wonderful day.
Tons of hugs sent your way,
♥Ana
She is lovely!...and would be even prettier in White paint!!!...I just love the white painted cottage look!...Makes me Happy!!!...Have fun deciding!!
You have the cutest things! I love the rug with the crown you found at Target. Unfortunately my Target doesn't have any or I would definately be getting one. I love your blog.
donna.case@comcast.net
Aren't you glad you waited. She's fabulous. I would leave it as it is, live with it a bit. It's like getting two pieces for one ... a wood one ... then a painted one.
What a beauty she is! I probably agree with everyone else...wait and see. And you know me, I paint everything...I think there is change in the air and you might decide that the mixing of woods and paint is the *new* thing...and you don't have to worry b/c of weather so I'd just sit on it awhile...my 2 cents:)
Rene'
She's beautiful just the way she is! I love painted wood, but I'm appreciating the natural element of untouched wood more and more these days. Great find - and a bargain, too!
I think she's perfect a l naturale!
Good Morning Kelly!
I so love visiting you - always fun and you are always up to something creative and inspiring!
Love your buffet! I have one too that I debate about painting or not. I think the touch of wood is just perfect here - you'll know when the time is right to paint!
xo,
Kim
Oh
FOR SURE PAINT IT.
Can't wait to see your results.

Oh my, she is so pretty! It was just meant to be. I would leave her as she is for awhile, and see how you like it. I like the contrast with the rest of the furniture.
Debbie
Oh my gosh, what a beautiful buffet! I have been wanting one just like it for over a year now and I would probably just leave it the way it is. It is absolutely beautiful. CONGRATS!
I agree with everyone that says to live with her as is for a while. While I love natural wood, this style certainly lends itself to creamy white paint and floral appliques. You will know by spring!
Hi Kelly! Hope your weekend is going well! We're camping in the rain, fun, fun. At least I have internet! lol Just wanted to let you know that I linked to your pumpkin topiary today. It was too cute not to share!
~Michelle
Live with her for a while and see what she "says" to you. Water-based paints are not forever if you tire of that look. The wood will still be there waiting for rediscovery!
Beautiful...and I'm not going to sway your opinion either way on the paint/not paint issue...I can't wait to see what YOU choose...I trust your judgement better than mine! :)
White...paint her white. She looks naked without her white dress:O)
THANKS for the warm birthday wishes!!! We had a great time!
Rene'
SHE is a beaut-y...where'd you find her?
Lindo esse blog, amo tudo que é vintage e amo cor de rosa.Esse blog é maravilhoso.
She is very pretty. I like her in her natural state but whatever you do with her I'm sure will look great!!
She is gorgeous, and I love her JUST LIKE SHE IS! But, if you choose to change her, I know I'll like her that way, too, because you are so creative! I'm glad she was yours, your patience and acceptance paid off, in a surprising way!
XOXO
Joni
Wow, that is simply gorgeous Kelly!!
I actually love that the natural wood looks so rich and aged, especially with your wall color too! I think "she" is simply stunning as is!!! Great find kiddo!!
Hugs, Cyn xoxo
She has beautiful lines.
I'm the same way when I find something I love that is a little to much $$ at the time.
If it is there on my next visit then it was meant of be mine.
It's like it was saying "see...I was waiting for you to come back".
That is how I justify to my checkbook and the hubs!.
Suze
Beautiful! Looks a bit like the one that my Grandma gave us. I would probably paint it but it looks beautiful the way it is too.
Love how you decorated around her too.
Beautiful treasure..I furniture like this thrown out on the curbside!! Most of my cottage is from the road! People are nuts in New England!
How ya doing? What did you decide? Are all of the *pinks* going? Just curious:)
Have a great day!
Rene'
What a beautiful piece...and the size looks perfect for your space. I would just live with her a bit...then I think you'll know whether to paint or not. She looks pretty without paint from what I can see, but I could see her painted, too. Ummmm...hard decision. So glad she got to come home with you...definitely, meant to be. :-)
