My Fake Door

I've got to tell ya the no shopping thing(the economy) is really cramping my style over here, I'm struggling to find things to blog about is anyone else feeling the same way or is it just me?? Well I don't think I have ever shown you my fake door, LOL, I know it's kind of weird but I saw a real one in a Pottery Barn catalogue and I asked Jeff if he could make me one to look like the real thing so we used left over bead board paneling and some wood and there you have it my door that is suppose to look like it closes in front of my real door or something like that, hahaha. By the way this is my entrance into my house from my garage, it opens into my kitchen. I hope everyone has a great weekend(;

LOVE it Kelly! I am a fake freak, lol! Not mentally of course, lol! But, I adore fake doors, screen doors, windows, anything really! I have tons of fake windows around the house. I LOVE the door your hubby made, what a great idea and it looks perfect!

Kelly- love the fake door! Is the real door to the right where you see the hinges?

I am a little out of the loop- are you on a shopping sabatical? I love the idea and think it makes for being much more creative with the things you have. I found a ton of stuff that I have stored away to "get to" some day- Got my compressor and sprayer out yesterday and went to town!! Not finished as it was just the primer but I can't wait to show all the pretties soon!

Love the door, can Jeff please make me one? I run out of things to blog about and then I have a long dry spell, it's hard when you don't shop. Why aren't you shopping, is everything ok or is it just the good ole economy.

Hugs,
LeAnn:)

Oh, sweetpea, that is adorable. I understand about the shopping. I'm cutting down because I have no more ROOM to put things. Working on the yard I guess. But I have never been at a loss for blogging.

The simple pleasures always seem the most pleasing.

Lovely.

I myself am on the lookout for a very particular door. Not just any door... but one that matches up to my front door on my cottage. I can't wait to find it.

I never run out of things to talk about. I'm sure there are many who would love it if this ole irish tongue would hush but there is just so much in life to share!!

It looks so good where and how you have it placed. You are fortunate that your husband can build you something that you saw in a Pottery Barn catalog. He must be a talented guy, so along with your talent...your house must be full.

I'm laughing outloud looking at your beautiful fake door, I found one along side the road TODAY!!!! What a coinkidink!!!!! I left to get some flowers at the local nursery and a woman was hauling it out to the road, score!!! I was so excited! She just wanted it gone! I made her day and she made mine! I'll post it soon, Love yours, your husband did a great job, xoxo~Kathy~ Sweet Up-North Mornings...

I love it! Who cares if it's fake as long as it looks good? I know just what you mean. Sometimes I buy something (when there's extra money) just so I have something to blog about myself. It is hard coming up with things. That's why I do a lot of the weekly events that are sponsored by other bloggers. Gives me something to blog about that day!

This door idea is great!!! Why didnt I think of this? LOL!
Well it looks great! I think that sometimes it is hard to find things to blog about, especailly when money is low. I try to get little things together or little ideas that I know I like and others will enjoy too....no need to spend fortunes. Well have a great weekend.

I like your door. That was a great idea. It gave your home just a liitle bit more cottage character! I love your cottage. With all of the junk that I have stored up to repurpose, I probably won't ever run out of things to blog about! LOL It is so much fun turning trash to treasure!

P.S. Come visit...I put pictures of my dining room on there. I'm almost finished with it.

I think there is so much to write about and you do a great job of it.
Have you re-done a lamp, window treatments, taken a trip to thrifts stores, changed out accessories in a room? I like your island-for a change, it works! I should start a blog as I have so much to say, to show. Maybe in the future, I can. Anyway, keep up the good work!

Cute! Cute! Cute!

Since I just got started blogging a month ago, I still have some post material left but I fear the day my ideas run dry. I'm a real homebody and I hate leaving the house. Staying home is my idea of a really good time but it hardly makes for interesting posts. :)

Well, I've been feeling that since my husband got laid off in February. It has been very hard to get inspired to say the least to post, especially when you can't go anywhere to even look without being tempted. I had so many ideas to post, but it all went out the window. With all that said I think you've been doing a great job with your posting. It's always been a treat!

Take Care-

The house number signs came from:
http://www.flagfables.com/

Look on the left sidebar of the homepage and click on "Yard DeSigns." The changeable magnet "faces" come in lots of fun designs and will work on either their wall-mounted plaque (like mine) or the yard stake. They give you a couple sets of numbers with each "face" to add your house number. They also have matching garden flags, door mats and mailbox covers. Fun stuff!

Note: When you get to the page where it shows the different "face" designs, it looks like those are the only ones to chose from but those are actually just the categories...garden, summer, Christmas etc. Click on one of the designs to see more designs in that category. For example, there are 3 pages of Christmas designs! It says that at the top of the page but it's in light blue writing and not real obvious (at least to me) so it took me a minute to figure that out. Duh! :o

Your door is adorable. Almost all of our possessions are in boxes, and staying that way until we move into a house. I have nothing to blog about, and only blank walls, and boxes to look at here.

Aspiemom said...

I love, love, love that door and the whole look that is framed there!

The cottage look is my favorite. We moved 2 years ago and our house is very well suited for it, but we've had absolutely no money to buy ANYTHING. We really need to replace our main LR furniture and can't right now, so I'm holding off on everything else, too. No money just stinks, doesn't it?

Your place is beautiful and very charming!
