Cute or Strange??

Okay ladies what do you think. I have seen this done before with the lamp shade forms and today I was in an antique store and saw one and thought I have that old lamp shade form at home I should try it and see how it looks, so I did, but I'm not sure if I like it or not?? I think it's kind of cute but second guessing myself, hmmmm is it just me that thinks it looks good or does it really look good?? Ya know what I mean, LOL! I hope everyone enjoys their weekend, I'll be watching my husband kill himself in a softball tournament this weekend, ya know the old bones and muscles don't bounce back like they used too!

Go with it. every room should have an item of whimsy and this surely qualifies.

My hubs still thinks he can pitch a game and hit a ball out of the park most days. :)

Kelly...I think it totally fits your decor...I have a thought. Now you asked, so here it goes. When looking at the previous picture, everything is more white/cream. Would you like the lamp more, same idea, but spray it white? Just a thought....

i like it! but there's something about the little shades that i think might be the issue as to why you're not sure about it? or maybe something should be around the top like you have around the bottom of the frame... but i do like it!

I like it. What I might suggest though, is to move it slightly to the left (as you are facing it) so that the edge of the lamp doesn't come up against the shutter. I know it doesn't in real life but I think having some space around it, at least in the photo, would make it look better. I think that's what is throwing it off.

Nice job. I know exactly what you mean when you try new things-it's hard to tell sometimes if it works or doesn't.

P.S. I like the brown wrought iron vs. the white.

I LOVE the lamp As it is GREAT! But if it does not feel quite right, try withot the shades and non PC light bulbs.

This new style lamp is taking a little bit of getting used to by me, but it's growing on me. What's important is whether you like it or not. I may actually put one in the shop my friend and I are opening just to see how it goes over. ♥

hmmmm...it looks pretty cute to me..I have seen the chandies made with the raw lampshade but not displayed this way. Very unique and quite cute in your decor...

You could try it without the shades and use a candle light bulb. I like it, but wouldn't make it white. Too much white and it would look like my daughters room. You could also try textured shades... bamboo, etc. I really like it. :)

Love it! Especially with the bead wire twisted around, looks really unique and sets it off nicely. I definitely would not paint it, the patina is gorgeous!

I like it but I too would take the shades off the lamp. I also would put the crystals down on the new shade you added.

Joanne

I think it looks cute! If it were me, I would probably take out the small shades and put soft bulbs in. But really, it is an unexpected, fun item in the room. Looks great.

Thank you for your comment on my bathroom, I really appreciate it!

A fun new idea! How about adding some lace-vintage style? Live with it for awhile and then see...

PS the woodwork in my house is already painted in the kitchen, family room, and bathroom. The front (more formal) areas (dining, parlor, entry) have the original stained woodwork. But I don't think I made it clear that the windows have no trim at the moment. Previous owners had taken out original windows and replaced them with sideways aluminum ones. We put in new windows but have not trimmed them yet. We will do reproduction trim so that it matches but the decision has to be made for stain-grade or paint-grade. I want to paint everything-I think it would be more
farmhouse-y and not soo formal. but as you know:), styles change...and then what? I won't be doing any of it for awhile-I have to get ready for my sale-just thougfht I'd throw it out there. If I wait long enough to make a decision maybe the wood-tones will be back in:)
Anyway, bye again!

So yes, I do have 2 now...one for the yard....and the Fireball is for the road :) Her paint job is done...now I just have to work on the inside.

Looks cute!...I like it! I would suggest removing the little lamp shades though as the inside of lamps dont have little lamp shades. Maybe that's what is bothering you?
