Ikea was calling my name!!

Well I couldn't hardly wait to show you all my new couch, I went to Ikea today and purchased the bigger white slipcovered couch, I already had the loveseat but I just couldn't get it to look right, it was just to small in my room. Has anyone else seen the commercial for Ikea where the lady is running to her car screaming to her husband start the car, start the car!! I feel like her and laugh everytime I shop there, they have such good prices on there couches!! I really like the way it looks and the room feels more balanced to me now(; Notice that my fireplace is missing, it's a long story, but I will take a pic and show you what I have done with that later, I'm not so sure I like it, so I won't show a pic yet ): I also moved my buffet cabinet to my living rm for now, we'll see how long that lasts, LOL. I'm still playing around with the stuff on the walls, it just wasn't coming to me today, I have good decorating days and bad and today I think I was so excited just looking at my new white couches! What do you all think, do you like it?? Oh and please don't mind the wrinkles on the sofa's I have to steam them and I haven't done it yet.

I love it! I dream of that white ikea furniture too. I would also love to have the pink slip covers. Thanks for answering my question about the pink chairs. Kmart doesn't carry them any more. Do you know what happened to Decorating Housewife? I enjoyed her blog too but it stopped. Have fun with your walls!

Do you love that or what! I need it in off white:-) I never knew Ikea had this type of furniture--not sure what I thought they had, but not this! It looks great in your room. You simply have a gorgeous home. If you have a moment, please stop by my blog, I have a Southern friend who needs our prayers.

I love those IKEA sofas! I lust for them but will have to wait. The loveseat would be so lovely in my living room and the sofa would be perfect in the den. I love that that they have so many slip covers available. Your sofas look lovely in your home.

I've been doing a lot of shopping at IKEA lately as I have had to fix up temporary lodgings while I am out in San Diego working.

I've become a huge fan.

Kelly,

You are too funny! yes, I know all about "changing our minds", oh what fun it is to be a girl :) LOL

anyway, I do remember in another post you had the unit on the other side. I liked it that way too. But I have the same dilemma as you, where do I put the TV ;) I have mine above the fireplace too, and I have to say, I miss decorating it all "UP". I can decorate it a little , but can't do my usual kind because I think its not as tolerant with the tv there. So Design wise , its a challenge. That's why I want my TV behind a door eventually. Next project :) But the good thing about yours is, its set back, so you don't see it right away when you walk in. So I'd leave it there. And I do like your combined unit! what I really love is the wall you've done up above the sofa too ( love seat ). If you had the Tv there or the fireplace, you'd have to move a sofa, and I like that layout too much to change it...I kinda played with your layout and moved things around in my head, and it comes back to keeping the layout as is! maybe if you felt at a latter date that the TV and fireplace inside the unit weren't doing it for you any more, you could keep the fireplace there, and the tv, and put shutters on the tv, so it could be hidden again. You could take away the side units and make the fireplace more visible? Just a thought. I have a feeling you'll change it up for fun anyway if your like me :) But the sofas and everything else look great where they are! that piece in front of the window looks FAB too!

GIGGLE GIGGLE! Oh don't you just LUV Ikea! A good friend of mine and I are OBSESSED, lol! She said she has actually had DREAMS of shopping at Ikea, lol! As I stated in the previous post that I have the sofa, loveseat, two oversized chairs with two ottomans n two of the more upright chairs for the ends of my dining room table so I think I am obseesed, lol! Oh I just LUV the way you have your livingroom and I wouldn't worry about the wrinkles if I were you since to be it gives a more relaxed cozy slipcovered look like the Rachel Ashwell shabby yet chic style! I actually prefer a lil bt of wrinkling ;0) You do an amazing job at decorating and you are so inspiring!

I love it, too!!! I had no idea about IKEA selling white sofas. I will have to look into the price on them as I am trying to find new furniture. Not so sure white would do having Mr. Duhgall's black hair around and he likes to rub up against the skirt on the sofa we have now.

LOVE your house, Kelli! Just so fresh and so pretty!!!

I have the same couches. We actually have two of the full size rather than a loveseat and they both fit so nicely in our family room. We've had them for two yrs. and let me tell you, with four teenagers(and their friends) they get dirty. I don't think they wash up very good. But it doesn't cost too much to just buy new slipcovers when they get worn out.

Seawashed said...

BTW...the wrinkles do come out all on their own after a few weeks. I didn't steam or iron mine and they straightened out on their own.
Same with after washing too. These sofas are really cozy. We LOVE them!

LoVe IKEA...we we're just there yesterday(it's only 20 minutes away). We have alot of furniture from there. One of my daughter's entire bedroom is set is from IKEA, black rod iron. My oldest son just bought his own queen size bed from IKEA and loves it. He's getting ready for when he moves out on his own. I would love to have the Ektorp chair and footrest to go with the sofas. Someday.

Hi Kelly!
Heather, from Pretty Petals, sent me over to your blog to check out your IKEA couch and love seat. I've been admiring hers because we need to replace the two love seats in our living room. The look is great and the price can't be beat, so I am thinking of dragging my hubby over to IKEA tonight to check them out.
Are you happy with your purchase?
