While I'm waiting for the paint to dry, I thought I would show you what I have gotten done so far, my only dilema is~remember the inspiration pic I showed you, well it had a cream color paint on the inside of the back of the hutch, I can't decide if I want to leave the aqua color or paint it cream, what do you girls think I should do?? I really can't decide what I like better, I thought for sure cream until I put one of my rose dishes up against the aqua and it looked so pretty, please give me your opinions to help me make up my mind(;
Hugs~Kelly
For those who were asking about my painting process~ I lightly sanded it then brushed on Kilz primer and then this time I used my paint sprayer to apply the top coat of aqua. After it dries good I will distress the edges with sand paper, where normal wear would be. Hope that's helpful .
I vote aqua!!!! It will look so pretty with all your things, something for a contrast! Beautiful job, I can tell you've been hard at work. I have been rather unproductive today!
ReplyDeleteI think it looks great in aqua! You could leave it the way it is and live with it for awhile. Then in a few weeks you may change your mind!!
ReplyDeleteI think the aqua would give it a little something. It would make your china pop. I love the change you made. What a difference.
ReplyDeleteLorri
Keep the aqua! They will pop against the color. Wow, you are fast...I can't wait to see it set up!
ReplyDeleteIf your dishes look pretty against the aqua, I'd say leave it aqua. You can always change your mind later and paint it cream.
ReplyDeleteThe cabinet looks really pretty!!
How about cream and aqua stripes in the background. It looks like there is clabber board in the back May try that and if it doesn't look right than re-paint.
ReplyDeleteCIao
I meant wainscoting, what a numbscull I can be.
ReplyDeleteI think the aqua would be FAB Kelly! Especially if it does something for those sweet rose dishes!
ReplyDelete1. Did you strip or sand before you painted?
2. Did you brush, roll or spray the paint on?
3. What kind of paint did you use?
Just need to know! LOL!
Love ya Kelly,
Maryjane
This aqua color is gorgeous! Bet the plates really shine with that color!!
ReplyDeleteGood job you did, love it
I think the aqua is very pretty. I think I would leave it. The hutch is really looking lovely! B.
ReplyDeleteIf the dishes look good with Aqua.. then GO FOR IT!!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see it finished. This is making me want to paint something! lol!!
Beautiful Blessings~Kelly Maria
Wow, you are fast...I also want to know how you prepped it before painting. I like the aqua...I'm anxious to see it with all your pretty thing. Natalie
ReplyDeletep.s. I did post about my teacups on Thursday...I still like you little cup and saucer holders. Must look for those.
hi kelly!
ReplyDeletei would go for the aqua. it will be awesome and if you don't like it (which i am doubting) you can cover the aqua with the cream and sand the edges for some cool distressing with the aqua showing through.
how did you get that done so quickly? details!
you ROCK!
My vote is to keep it just like it is, honey. Looks great in pix but you're there and can see it and it's your home. Do as YOU'D like, chickee. Looks beautiful to me.
ReplyDeleteSmooches,
Connie
The buffet looks great! Do love the pics of your cottage kitchen. Whatever you decide on the buffet will look great! Can't wait to see it finished and filled with delightful dishes :-)
ReplyDeleteI am voting the same as everyone else- aqua!!! And of course, you can always change it later if you change your mind. Love that hutch!!
ReplyDeleteMichelle
Great progress so far!! Come over and take a look, I just posted about my aqua paint dilemma. The end result was something I am really happy with. I don't think you'll be sorry if you choose to go with it. :)
ReplyDelete~Michelle
I say stay with the aqua and change it out later if you want. It looks wonderful!
ReplyDeleteHi Kelly:
ReplyDeleteWow, you work fast. I think it looks great right now!!
I love signing on and seeing that beautiful kitchen of yours.
Ginger
I vote aqua - it is gorgeous and different that the cream color that everyone is using now.
ReplyDeleteOh Kelly, I love the aqua! I wish that I could use that color. I just put my first coat of 'creamy ivory' paint on my hutch. It does look better, however seeing yours painted that pretty color makes me want to do something different already! I had to paint it all by hand. I wish that I had a sprayer! I think that I'm gonna paint the back part a soft pink like my walls in the den. If I get tired of it, I can always repaint! It just takes me so long!
ReplyDeleteYou did a beautiful job! Your dishes are going to look perfect in their new home!
Hugs,
Lee Laurie
I think it is beautiful in aqua.Lookinf forward to seeing all your pretty dishes in it.
ReplyDeleteCarolyn
I think the cream. It would give a bit more visual stimulation and if you could use different color plates (if you choose) without worrying if it may clash with the aqua background, kwim? I do like the aqua though. So far it's looking good! Can't wait to see the finished product!
ReplyDeleteI really like Aqua with Creme, I think they go together beautifully after seeing a living room in those very two colors. Beautiful hutch by the way. Pearl
ReplyDeleteHi Kelly!
ReplyDeletewow , it feels like after one week I've missed so much! OMG, your hutch is stunning sweetie!!! Hmmmm, I am pondering this :) while I know that it will look gorgeous with just the aqua, part of me would love just a tiny touch of cream. I don't think I would do the whole back of the hutch with it, because you are soooo right, dishes look stunning against a color like aqua! so what about if you just did the edges of the hutch with some cream?
But, OMG, it truly is going to be a beautiful piece no matter what you do!!
I just thought of something, if you left it all aqua, you could get little cream napkins or lace and have them hanging a bit over the shelves under the plates and that way you'd have a little cream too, and the removable kind :)
Oh well, just thinking out loud ;)
Hope all is good sweetie! I can't wait to see it done and set up!! xox Cynthia
Hi Kelly! I also vote aqua; that way you can use white lace/doilies OR off white and nothing will clash! OR if you want to use white plates, etc.... Gorgeous color, what a difference the paint made! Just beautiful and sooo much work! Looks fantastic! Sincerely, Jeannette
ReplyDeleteKelly,
ReplyDeleteCome over and look how far I have gotten with my china cabinet. I need help! I'm trying to decide what color to paint the inside. I'm ready to get it finished. Have you finished yours? Also I found a hutch that looks exactly like yours did before you painted it at gritsglamour.blogspot.com
Hugs,
lee Laurie
Go with your gut...but my gut is saying aqua.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
LeAnn
OOOh, I love it as is!
ReplyDeleteYou complete your projects so fast!
I need your help...can you stop by my pawsh poodle blog when you have a minute....please.
looking forward to seeing it all spruced up with your goodies inside.
Kelly love the aqua you must do this colour it looks unreal in that pic and now you have undercoated it would be easy to do the blue. Can't wait to see the final pic. Love Sandy xo
ReplyDeleteI don't know if someone already suggested this. You could cut out cardboard to fit in the back and wrap it with cream colored fabric or paper and push it into place. That way you could have both aqua or cream depending on your mood!
ReplyDeleteWell guess i will have to be one of the odd one, I think the cream would just make it pop, aqua and cream, yum.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful, big hutch. I think the aqua looks great. Think about how it will look in all seasons. If it will work with your other decor throughout the year, then keep it the aqua.
ReplyDeleteWow, what a transformation. I'm not sure, it looks great as is, but the white might give it that shabby zap! I think the white backdrop might look best with the other furniture in your cottage. Whatever you decide will look great!
ReplyDeleteSorry, I was MIA for the weekend...so what did you decide?
ReplyDeleteYou know the problem with those magazines-they are always showing us new things. That means new projects.
I think the all-white look is a bit more sophisticated...along with the appliques'-they always dress up the pieces. *Anxious* to know:)
Thanks for the sweet comments-I hope to put on more photos of my house but that would mean cleaning it first that would be a *very good* thing!
Rene'
LOVe the aqua! cherry
ReplyDeleteHi Kelly,
ReplyDeleteI haven't been blogging much but was so excited to see your new projects when I came by this morning. Your new furniture is really pretty. Can't wait to see how the hutch turns out. You do such amazing things with your stuff that I know it will be fabulous.
Hugs,
Sue
Good morning Kelly,
ReplyDeleteI buy my appliques' from www.thebellacottage.com-they are the best quality of all that I have tried;so even though they are more expensive they are worth it, especially for a piece like that. The large wreaths are soo pretty.
Hmmm, I didn't see your comments yesterday-THANKS for the kindness and prayers for Olivia.
HTH and have a great day,
Rene'
aqua for sure-
ReplyDeleteI just painted our ceiling of our sunroom that color- I'll post a picture tomorrow to show you the color I'm thinkin'

It looks like aqua is winning. I love it, too. Did you spray paint this?
ReplyDeleteElizabeth
